Michael and Jennifer Burt, professional artist team since 1993. Michael studied Fine Art at Eastern Michigan University while Jennifer took private instruction and apprenticeships. Both artists, drawn to glass as a medium have been mastering their skills of stained and fused glass for the past 10 years."Glass has the ability to absorb light giving glass a depth of color not found in other mediems. Our designs come from our subconsious sense of placement of shape and color, states Michael, while working in their home studio nestled in the hills of Brown County, Indiana.
Currently, the Burts attend approximately 16-18 of the top art shows in the midwest displaying their work. The uniqueness of their designs comes from their non-traditional methods of craftmanship. Creating their designs on a light box without any pre-drawn patterns, many of the stained glass panels are frameless and reinforced internally, blurring the lines of shape. Color, texture, fused glass and negative space all inhance their abstact designs.
